Melamine, crystal melamine
Chemical formula of melamine is C3H6N6. The German word melamine was coined by combining the words: melam (a derivative of ammonium thiocyanate) and amine. Melamine is an organic base chemical most commonly found in the form of white crystals rich in nitrogen. Melamine is combined with formaldehyde to produce melamine resin, a very durable thermosetting plastic used in Formica, melamine dinnerware, laminate flooring and dry erase boards. Melamine foam is used as insulation, soundproofing material and in polymeric cleaning products, such as Magic Eraser.
Melamine is a major raw material for coatings resins, laminates, fire retardants, molding compounds, wood adhesives, and many other applications. Melamine resins provide hard, glossy surfaces that are durable
Application for Melamine
Melamine is ideal for use in high-performance products like wood-based panels, laminates, coatings, molding powders and flame-retardants. Melamine is used in impregnating adhesive resins in the wood-processing industry.
Melamine also plays a role in a wide range of flame resistant materials, including; upholstery textiles, intumescent paints, fabrics used in uniforms worn by firefighters and industrial workers, and a wide variety of residential, commercial, and industrial fire block materials.
Melamine used id wood industry: For transparent, beautiful and heat resistant on wood surfaces
Melamine used in painting industry: for the production of paint (production of paint cars, bikes and ...)
Melamine used in paper industry: For the production of transparent, waterproof and anti-wrinkle paper (paper paper)
Melamine used in textile industry: fabrication of waterproof, anti-wrinkle and increased rinsing and anti-inflammation
Leatherworking industry: Provides transparent, waterproof and durable leather
Melamine used in rubber industry: increase adhesion properties of rubber
Molding: Cellulose fibers in the manufacture of dining utensils (melamine)
Adhesion: For the production of wood-based adhesive with waterproof, anti-shock, high viscosity and high adhesion properties.
Concrete industry: To increase the pumping capacity of concrete without the need to increase the amount of water
Melamine used in fire department: Provides fire extinguishing and fire resistant materials.Melamine is widely used in plastics, adhesives, countertops, dishware, and whiteboards.
Specification of Melamine
Storage of Melamine
Keep container tightly closed. Keep container in a cool, well-ventilated area. Melamine is a stable chemical when stored under normal warehouse conditions. Good housekeeping should be maintained to control dust accumulations. Good hygiene practices should be followed. After handling and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash face and hands with soap and water. In case of eye contact, immediately irri- gate with plenty of water for 15 minutes.
In the event of fire, melamine should be handled as many powdered solids. Use water, carbon dioxide or dry chemical to extinguish fires. Wear self-contained, positive pressure breathing apparatus.
